Dharshini Bandara is a qualified English barrister and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 1999 after having studied law at Buckingham and working as a research assistant at the Institute of Maritime Law in Southampton. Before joining Fleet Hamburg as a founding member, Dharshini worked at the Hamburg office of Ince & Co. since 2002.

Dharshini advises shipping clients on any disputes arising under  time and voyage charterparties covering issues from unsafe ports, speed and consumption and bunker disputes, to warranty claims and issues concerning off-hire, withdrawal and suspension of hire. She also advises on sale and purchase, shipbuilding and ship repair contracts, and acts for cargo owners, charterers and ship owners in relation to  cargo claims as well as  ship management and  brokerage disputes. Dharshini has also recently advised clients in relation to disputes arising between charterers and owners following incidents of piracy. She advises and conducts litigation proceedings in the English courts and all arbitration proceedings involving English law not only for shipping clients but also in respect of trading and construction disputes. On non-contentious matters, Dharshini drafts and advises on international supply and construction contracts, including general terms & conditions for clients.

Dharshini is Supporting Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) andmember of the International Bar Association. She speaks English, Sinhalese and German.
